“Artists Sarah Cockings and Harriet Fleuriot began working together in 2014 on a promotional film for ‘Plasma Vista’ - Sarah's new business concept to creatively showcase episodical art, design products, furnishings and clothing.
Everything featured in the film would be available to buy through the Plasma Vista platform, but plans to complete the promo in two months fell away and business plans were suspended. After two years of discussion and development with long reflective pauses, the project morphed from a necessary investment task into an expressive vehicle for working together as artists.
The film manifested a disobedient breakdown that rejected the brief. Hijacking the commercial framework and seizing the business name for its own, it moulded itself around ideas that explored utility, economics, production, creativity and aesthetics. The original concept had eaten itself, pushed back, self-rendered dysfunctional and reformed into an independent experimental piece of moving image.”
